- Voters Asked to Appeal to Senators, Congressmen to Show Restraint -
WOODBRIDGE – Tito Muñoz , candidate for the Republication nomination for Virginia Senate in the 36th District, today launched a petition aimed at calling on members of Congress to resist raising the federal debt ceiling and increasing taxes. Voters are asked to sign the petition at http://petition.votetito.com/, which will be sent to Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb and the members of the Congressional delegation.
The petition reads:
“Today, the United States is over $14 trillion in debt and President Obama and the Democrats want to raise our debt ceiling so they can spend even more money. All the while trying to raise our taxes.
“Enough is enough. Please take a moment to fill out this petition to demand that our members of Congress here in Virginia stand firm and say NO to raising the debt ceiling.”
“It would be completely irresponsible to continue to borrow money and increase spending, while going back to the taxpayers to foot the bill once again,” said Muñoz . “They say when you find yourself in a hole, you’re supposed to stop digging. Tito Muñoz: “Severely Disappointed” in McConnell on Debt Limit
- Calls on VA Delegation, Puller to Work to Avert Massively Mounting Debt -
WOODBRIDGE – Tito Muñoz, candidate for the Republican nomination for the Virginia Senate in the 36th District, today decried Sen. Mitch McConnell’s proposal on the federal debt limit. Muñoz issued the following statement.
“The McConnell ‘plan,’ if you can call it that, simply makes it easier for the federal government to borrow more and spend more. It puts the ball in Barack Obama’s court and relies on him to make spending cuts that we know will never happen. Senator McConnell’s idea is neither a plan, nor is it anything but a recipe for more of the same we have seen from Washington, DC. I am severely disappointed in Sen. McConnell.
“It is my hope that our Virginia Congressional delegation will stand firm against raising the debt ceiling at a time when our nation faces a financial situation as dire as this.
“I call on my own Congressman, Gerry Connolly, to refuse to plunge this country further into debt than it already is. I further call on state Sen. Toddy Puller to do her duty to her constituents and work with her friends in the Democratic Party and elsewhere to help us in this fight against debt saddled on future generations.
“This is a time to put aside party. This is a time to decide what is right for America.”

Breitbart Praises Tito Muñoz as “One of Greatest Voices” in Tea Party
- Conservative Activist Cites Muñoz, Sen. Marco Rubio as Leaders -

WOODBRIDGE – Prominent Tea Party and conservative activist and commentator Andrew Breitbart praised Tito “The Builder” Muñoz as “one of the greatest voices in the Tea Party” in a recent appearance on “Al Punto,” the Sunday morning news program on Univision. Muñoz is a candidate for the Republican nomination for the Virginia Senate in the 36th District.
In response to question about the Tea Party from host Jorge Ramos, Breitbart cited Muñoz and Sen. Marco Rubio (R – Florida) in the same breath.
Ramos: You’re one of the most recognized faces within the Tea Party. Is there a concerted effort by the Tea Party to try to reach the Hispanic voters?
Breitbart: I don’t know if there’s a concerted effort. It’s such an amorphous group, it’s a grassroots effort and there’s no, there’s not enough central organization but I am a member of the Tea Party. I am a defender of the Tea Party. I would say that one of the greatest voices in the Tea Party is a guy by the name of Tito Muñoz. He goes by the name of “Tito the Builder,” and he is such a strong advocate of why it’s so great to be an American, and in Florida we have a person by the name of Senator Marco Rubio who could not be more popular. In fact, he would not have been elected to the Senate if there wasn’t a Tea Party and so I consider a privilege to come on Univision to talk about the Tea Party to say that in America we need members of the Latino community to come to the Tea Party movement and enrich the Tea Party.

“It is a great honor to be highlighted in such a way by a Tea Party leader like Andrew Breitbart – and to be mentioned with Marco Rubio is even more exciting,” said Muñoz. “We all stand for the same ideals: reduced spending, lower taxes, limited government and greater economic freedom and opportunity for all Americans. These are the principles that I will take with me to the Virginia Senate.”
